Our next Youth Appreciation recipient for 2017-18 is Sharon, a grade 12 student from White Oaks Secondary School - South Campus who participates in a variety of volunteering opportunities within both her school and community.  At her school Sharon is the scorekeeper for all home games across all sports throughout the year.   As an avid sports enthusiast she played on the basketball team in grade 10 and 11 and played varsity baseball from grades 9 to 11.  Sharon is also part of the Futures Numeracy Club where she spends half of her lunch hour period tutoring math to students with disabilities from the neighboring North Campus.  Sharon is a Youth Ambassador for the...

SOLD OUT! Thank you to everyone who registered for our annual Breakfast or Lunch with the Easter Bunny put on by the Junior Optimist Clubs of Oakville. This year it will be held at the Halton Police Safety Village, 1151 Bronte Road, downstairs. This free event is for children age 3 to 8. All children be accompanied by an adult. Children will enjoy games, crafts and an Easter Egg Hunt in the Safety Village (weather permitting). All children will receive a treat bag as they leave. There are 2 seatings - one for breakfast and one for brunch/lunch. Free tickets are limited. Register online at

Oratorical Competition for Scholarships - 01/31/2018

If you enjoy public speaking and are interested in winning scholarships for post secondary education, then the Oratorical Contest is for you. The ultimate international winner will accumulate $22,500 in scholarships. Cash prizes are awarded at the first level of competition at the Optimist Club of Oakville. The topic this year is: "Where are my Roots of Optimism?" The winner will then move on to the next level of competition. Junior Optimist 1st Annual CANstruction Challenge - 01/26/2018

Please note we have extended the date to register an intent to enter the contest to February 9, 2018.

The Junior Optimist Club of Oakville (JOI) and Food4Kids Halton are challenging Oakville High Schools to participate in our first annual CANstruction Challenge. It’s a fun way to collect much needed food for Food4Kids Halton which delivers bags of food to schools on Fridays to children who would not have had food for the weekends, and discreetly puts it in their backpacks to take home. February and March are months when food supplies are low. Have fun and make a difference here in Oakville!
